Thaddeus Ferber speaks at World Bank conference
On October 23rd, Thaddeus Ferber spoke to an audience of 300 at the World Bank's Y2Y Global Youth Conference 2008. The conference was presented by the Youth-to-Youth Community (Y2Y) of the World Bank. Y2Y is a community of young staff within the World Bank who work to mainstream youth issues within the World Bank and the broader development community and to engage with young people around the world through a participatory and demand driven approach.
Thaddeus presented the Ready by 21 Challenge on a panel facilitated by Ana Guevara, Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank on Leveraging Partnerships: The Role of Various Stakeholders. Thaddeus' fellow panelists were Stuart Hogue from the Nike Foundation, who presented on The Girl Effect, Ami Thakkar from the International Youth Foundation, Sara De Paz-Castro of Aflatoun, based in Amsterdam, which equips children with the knowledge and skills to become economically self-reliant citizens and Joe Ruiz of the UPS Foundation.
Says Thaddeus: "The Forum was originally incubated as a part of the International Youth Foundation, so getting an opportunity to interact with young leaders from around the world felt like coming home. The Forum welcomes opportunities such as this one to be a strong partner in the world community."
