More and more communities are dipping into the Ready by 21 waters: The Ready by 21 Partnership has selected partnerships in four communities – Montgomery County, Md.; Broward County, Fla.; El Dorado County, Calif.; and Sonoma County, Calif. – to participate in the Ready by 21, Credentialed by 26 Challenge.

The first in a new Ready by 21, Credentialed by 26 series, this issue brief explores why postsecondary completion is an important goal and looks at how the U.S. is currently faring. It identifies partners that need to be mobilized and policy approaches that need to be enacted in order to significantly increase completion rates and help more young people successfully transition to adulthood.

Putting Youth Work on the Map
Over the past year, two comprehensive studies of youth workers were coordinated by the Next Generation Youth Work Coalition. Together, these two studies, conducted by the Forum for Youth Investment and the National Afterschool Association, capture the voices and perspectives of over 5,000 youth workers from across the country.

Public Libraries as Partners in Youth Development: Lessons and Voices from the Field, published by the Forum in partnership with the Urban Libraries Council, captures key challenges and lessons learned from an innovative, four-year initiative sponsored by the Wallace-Reader’s Digest Funds that awarded six million dollars to nine library systems.
